Canola protein supplier, Burcon NutraScience, Vancouver, Canada, has en­tered into a research collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, Freising, Germany. Under the agreement, Fraunhofer will investigate certain potential health benefits of Burcon’s Supertein™ and Puratein® ingredients with regard to cholesterol-lowering ability and antioxidant potential. The research will include in vitro tests, which will look for correlations to known human studies. Pharmaceuticals and standard food ingredients will be used as benchmarks in the studies.
